“In the middle of the journey of our life I found myself within a dark woods where the straight way was lost.” ― Dante Alighieri, Inferno
My life may not be quite as dramatic as Dante’s “Inferno,” but I do relate to this passage. I strayed away from my path, but that just gave me a greater appreciation and awareness of what I’m capable of and how I can realize my full potential.
My name is Kelly Engram. I’m a creative, hardworking marketer and graphic artist with 30 years in the industry – 19 of those years as a freelancer specializing in the automotive industry. I’m accustomed to staying busy, tight deadlines, crazy attention to detail, uber organization and frequently waking up in the morning with spectacular ideas.
Long ago, I worked part-time in a marketing department while going to college. At some point, my priorities shifted, and work became more important than my education, so I decided to take a little hiatus. After a few years, I began my freelance marketing/graphic design career working with Texas Ford dealers. The majority of my work consisted of producing designs for weekly newspaper ads. Over the last several years, digital media changed the world of marketing and advertising, and I had to change as well. Adapting new digital skills became a priority, thus began my path to higher education.
After my “little” 25-year hiatus, I’m studying Mass Communications Digital Media Innovation. The course work gives me an in-depth understanding of digital media within the framework of real-world product management. I am acquiring the insight to effectively use social media, master multimedia skills and develop programming skills that will complement my design abilities. My comprehensive marketing background and ability to stay on the cutting edge of communication technology will allow me to gain the full potential I may have never realized.
